“Anduyan Comforts: Jemong’s Malunggay Pandesal, Kapepe & Lomi”

Image
My visit to Anduyan was made extra special by the local flavors I found. The highlight of my food trip was enjoying Jemong’s Malunggay Pandesal, paired with hot Kapepe and a comforting bowl of Lomi. Each one carried the taste and warmth of Anduyan. 🥖 Jemong’s Malunggay Pandesal in Anduyan Fresh from the oven, Jemong’s Malunggay Pandesal was soft, golden, and filled with the healthy twist of malunggay leaves. Eating it in Anduyan made me feel the simplicity and care of the community — bread that nourishes and comforts at the same time. Malunggay pandesal is a popular, nutrient-packed version of the classic Filipino bread roll, enhanced with the "superfood" malunggay (moringa) leaves for a vibrant green color, a subtle earthy taste, and a boost of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This nutritious twist makes it a healthier breakfast or snack, supporting digestion, energy, and heart health, and is a cherished addition to bakeries and households across the Philippines.   ☕ K...

My Story Beyond the Medals

Six Grades, A Thousand Memories Hi everyone, welcome to my little corner of the internet. Today, I just want to share something very close to my heart—my grade school journey. For most kids, those six years are full of happy memories, awards, and celebrations. But for me, it was different. It was a journey of quiet struggles, silent tears, and small victories that only I noticed. Grade One – The Smile Before the Silence I still remember my very first day of school. There’s a picture of me smiling, but behind that smile was fear. Papa dropped me off at the gate, and as soon as he left, I felt like I was lost in a new world. I didn’t know where to sit, who to talk to, or how to even start. At home, I told everyone I was fine—but honestly, I wanted to run away. Grade Two – Invisible Struggles By second grade, the pressure began. My sister got honors while I struggled quietly. I was proud of her, of course, but I couldn’t stop comparing myself. One math test came back completely wron...

Moments of the Natural World

Image
"When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator🍃🌱". "It was sunsets that taught me that beauty sometimes only lasts for a couple of moments, and it was sunrises that showed me that all it takes is patience to experience it all over again🍃🌱".  "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit🌱🍃". "The sky has changed from orange to a hundred shades of pink to a dark navy blue, and here I am still loving🍃🌱". Sangbay Falls     "Just like a waterfall, let your dreams flow freely and fearlessly🌱🍃". Thank you for reading my blog about nature. May every sunrise, sunset, and simple breeze remind us how beautiful the world is. Let’s continue to cherish and care for nature, because in protecting it, we also protect ourselves. 🌎💚

Flood Control

Image
F  lood are a part of the world’s natural water cycle and cannot be totally prevented, but the damage they inflict can be controlled effectively with the right methods, ( According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) 2025) Flood control projects are one of those methods. They are defined by the Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH ) as engineering works that, individually or in combination, provide flood protection and reduce flood damage. But does that mean flood control projects only remove or keep out rainwater? Not quite.   In a technical sense, the projects that the DPWH categorizes as flood control structures in its 2022 guidelines only include those that hold, pump, and divert flood water, increase an area’s flood capacity, retain excess water, and enhance flood flow. This follows the more traditional definition of flood management, as described in a 2014 study of the National Academy of Science and Tec...
